Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compliance - Maintain compliance with NAEYC code of ethics, city and state regulations and accreditation requirements governing early education and care programs. Continually update evidence binders and training as required. Accurately completes required Child and Adult Care Food Program (or CACFP) documentation, follows rules for food service, and attends CACFP training as necessary.

  • Oversight - Oversee the planning, implementation and communication of high quality, age-appropriate programming which addresses individual, small and large group needs. Maintain and demonstrate a high level of evidence based practice through program design, communication and work products. Oversee responsive, developmentally appropriate classroom care for guiding children's behavior and engagement, such as inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem solving; and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control.

  • Documentation - Complete clear documentation and written reports that facilitate communication with parents, co-workers and regulatory agents including daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, training evidence and professional development plans. Review and provide feedback to Teachers on all written communications and prepared materials. Use a variety of communication strategies to support constructive relationships by being accessible, approachable and engaged. Integrates family requests and traditions into classroom. Provide non-judgmental support for parents. Respond quickly to parent concerns. Conduct tours and orient new families to the program.

  • Organizational Performance - Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, use of technology, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to Teachers and volunteers. Contribute to probationary and annual reviews. Play an active role in maintaining budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies.

  • Assessment - Assess each child's development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, information from families and other stake holders. Oversee, coordinate, compile and communicate assessment information for the classroom. Link assessment information with success-oriented growth opportunities in all developmental domains.

Provide oversight of care and supervision in the classroom or childcare setting. Provides work direction to staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Associate's degree in early childhood

  • 3+ years of work experience in a related job discipline

  • Preferred: CDA
