Job Summary for Cabinet Builder/Installer
Ulrich Barn Builders is looking for a Cabinet Maker/Installer. The Cabinet Maker/Installer will oversee the creation of cabinetry from start to finish. The Cabinet Maker is responsible for constructing the custom cabinets with strong attention to detail and then applying appropriate finishes. The Cabinet maker needs to ensure they are working safely and efficiently at all times. The Cabinet Builder/Installer is responsible for the installation and secure placement of all cabinetry, ensuring cabinets are properly aligned, fastened and installed from floor to ceiling according to company standards and specifications.
Responsibilities for Cabinet Maker
- Builds custom designed cabinets from start to finish and responsible for installation
- Remaining safe by wearing all safety and protective gear necessary to ensure OSHA and company safety guidelines are being followed
- Managing workflow to ensure that projects are completed on time and deadlines are met
- Creating standard and custom components to cabinets
- Operates a variety of woodworking machines and various hand & power tools to fabricate wooden cabinets.
- Selecting the appropriate materials, fittings and tools for each task
- Studies blueprints or drawings of cabinets to be constructed
- Marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing of specifications.
- Matches materials for color, grain, or texture
- Cutting resources down to size as needed
- Operates woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointer, mortiser, tenoner, molder, and shaper, to cut and shape parts from woodstock
- Trims component parts for joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels or wood files
- Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine
- Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form a complete unit, using clamps, or clamping machine.
- Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints
- Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of cabinets to prepare them for finishing
- Applying sealant, varnish, and paint to cabinets according to order specifications
- Installing hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls
- Inspecting each completed item to ensure that it has been constructed and finished accurately.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements for Cabinet Maker
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a training program or apprenticeship is a plus
- Must have 2-3 years of experience as a Cabinet Maker
- Strong Math skills
- Attention to detail is essential
- Ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Must be physically able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Excellent teamwork and customer service skills
Work Environment for Cabinet Maker
- Faith-based office environment with manufacturing facility onsite.
- Warehouse is a non-climate controlled environment, but the office is climate controlled.
