Our Wholesale Solutions team at AXA XL, poised for growth in the dynamic world of Excess and Surplus lines

AXA XL's E&S Energy business unit offers insurance solutions for a broad range of risks including traditional contractors involved in upstream exploration, manufacturers, and suppliers of oilfield equipment as well as ventures developing and delivering new alternatives

Products include Primary GL, Excess, CPL, and Professional for North American based Insureds

The Underwriter II, E&S Energy will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of complex energy insurance risks, including both traditional oil and gas operations and renewable energy projects

This individual will evaluate exposures, set pricing strategies, and develop tailored insurance solutions while maintaining profitability and underwriting integrity

The candidate will also be responsible for strengthening broker and client relationships

This position reports to the Underwriting Manager, E&S Energy

What you’ll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include

The candidate will handle both new and renewal business in an assigned territory

Market and solicit new business opportunities from wholesale broker partners

Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account

Utilize underwriting tools including exposure, experience and industry ratings to analyze complex casualty exposure

Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to regional management, product management and chief underwriting officers

Collaborate with internal colleagues in the assessment of current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, and legal

Pro-active service of business in conjunction with our Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements

Cross-sell with other business units including primary casualty, property and other professional lines to maximize deployment of AXA XL’s capital

Monitor trends within the Marketplace to ensure we stay aware and ahead of emerging issues. (Renewables and alternative energy opportunities) Contribute to regional planning through the development and execution of your own annual desk-level underwriting plan

Travel throughout the territory (20%) for client, broker and internal meetings

What you will BRING We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities: Progressive underwriting experience related to Energy accounts

Outstanding relationships within National and Regional brokerages in the assigned territory

Working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and contracts

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Desired Skills and Abilities: Experience working hands-on with actuarial colleagues

Outstanding project and time-management skills

Effective sales, marketing and negotiation skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD (97,100 - 161,900)

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location
