Job Description
Key Account Manager
Behind every rare disease patient is a family, a treating physician, and a long road to the right care. As Key Account Manager Rare Diseases, you become the person who connects all of that , the face of Chiesi's rare diseases work in Belgium. Not just selling a product, but standing for a cause: making sure patients with rare conditions are seen, understood, and treated.
What will you do?
You are Chiesi's ambassador for rare diseases in Belgium. You build genuine, lasting relationships with the specialists who care for these patients, metabolic physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, neurologists and with the nurses, hospital pharmacists and patient associations around them. This is care, not transaction: you work patient by patient, supporting each journey from diagnosis through reimbursement to follow-up.
It's relationship-building in the truest sense. Some conversations bear fruit quickly; others take many visits and a great deal of patience. What ties them together is the patient at the centre and the difference the right treatment can make to a life.
You won't do this alone. You work closely with the Market Manager and Medical Advisor, who join you for staff meetings and the more in-depth scientific conversations. The wider team supports you on materials, congresses and the annual brand plan.
Your responsibilities:
- Map the Belgian rare disease landscape across metabolic centres and peripheral hospitals
- Identify and support the healthcare professionals involved in caring for rare disease patients
- Present scientific information on Chiesi's rare diseases portfolio, including Elfabrio for Fabry disease
- Develop and organise awareness campaigns, meetings and medical events that put the patient community first
- Be the trusted, long-term point of contact for everyone around the rare disease patient
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for one colleague to complete our Belgian Rare Diseases team. Someone who is genuinely moved by the chance to improve care for patients with a rare disease and who has the scientific depth to earn the trust of the specialists treating them. You read a clinical paper without effort, you hold your own in conversation with a specialist, and you find your meaning in moving a single patient forward rather than hitting a target.
Empathy matters here as much as expertise. In rare diseases you're not only dealing with a physician; you're dealing with the patient, their family, and the community around them.
Next to that, you bring:
- A scientific degree: this matters for the conversations you'll be having
- At least 3 years' experience in hospital or specialty pharma sales
- Fluency in French and (preferably) a good command of Dutch, much of the growth is in Wallonia
- Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams: physicians, nurses, hospital pharmacists, patient associations
- Knowledge of rare diseases is a plus, not a requirement
We offer you the following:
Join a passionate, Italian family-owned company where our values and behavior truly matter!
As family-owned company we focus on making impact for patients, the planet, people and all that with shared prosperity. Our activities have been externally validated as B Corp certified.
At Chiesi, we believe in continuous growth and development. Your personal and professional journey matters to us!
In addition to our focus on professional success, we place great importance on team connection and collaboration. That’s why we organize several internal offsite business events to foster connection, feedback and collaboration.
- An attractive salary in line with your responsibilities and experience.
- Performance-based bonus structure
- 13th month of salary
- 32 holidays per year, including 20 legal holidays and 12 RWH-days (Reduced Working Hours)
- Lease car
- Hybrid working model: everyone is working at least 3 days per week in the office. The other days you are free to work remotely.
- Workation: option work from another location for up to three weeks per year, giving you the freedom to balance work and life in a way that suits you best.
- Allowances: internet allowance, cost allowance & meal vouchers
- Group insurance with no employee contribution and coverage in case of death and disability, ensuring you and your family are always well protected.
- DKV hospitalization is fully paid by the employer for you and your family.
- Outpatient care insurance.
- Family travel insurance is fully paid by the employer for you and your family.
- C-Fit Program: Track your well-being in our app, enjoy a shared healthy lunch at the office, and participate in well-being activities that combine fun with colleagues while helping you achieve a healthy lifestyle.
- Annual budget of € 1.000 that you can use for learning or well-being opportunities, helping you grow professionally and personally.

About Chiesi
We are Chiesi, a family company founded by Giacomo Chiesi. In 1935, Giacomo started making new medicines in his pharmacy in Parma. Now, 90 years later we are a team of more than 7,500 people united by one goal: making a real difference for patients.
Every day, we work side by side to develop new medicines and solutions for chronic lung diseases, transplants, respiratory problems in premature infants, and rare conditions. Many of our treatments are life-changing or lifesaving and we embrace the responsibility that comes with that. By turning science and insight into innovation, we move health forward and bring hope for a healthier, happier future.
Long-term vision

In line with the values of the Chiesi family, where caring for each other and taking responsibility for the world around you are of paramount importance. Our efforts we are externally validated as B Corp Certified since 2019.
