Job Purpose

The Emerging Talent Development Specialist supports a culture of early career growth and development across the enterprise. This individual will facilitate enterprise professional and career development workshops, new associate onboarding, and career development programs (CDPs).The Emerging Talent Development Specialist will aid associates in achieving their career goals by engaging them in professional skills development workshops, rotational programs, and on the job assignments. The Specialist supports associate career exploration through coaching conversations, resume reviews, mock interviews, and explaining the transition to full time. The Specialist will have a broad understanding of Jackson functional areas, the entry and intermediate roles within these areas, and the required skills and experience necessary for success. This individual will support Jackson's internal talent pipeline for entry and intermediate level positions across the enterprise. The Emerging Talent Development Specialist is also responsible for working alongside Talent Acquisition and business leaders to build and maintain relationships with universities, colleges, clubs, community partners, and organizations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Executes the early career development strategy by facilitating and building content for in-person workshops, experiential learning, online sessions, assessments, and other learning collateral.
  • Supports the planning and execution of new hire onboarding.
  • Supports the creation of curriculum, courses, materials, and assessments for Jackson’s Career Development Programs.
  • Supports the administration, facilitation, and assessment of emerging talent development programs, leveraging departmental processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Promote and highlights available learning opportunities, executing the communication strategy.
  • Understands the various sets of knowledge and skills within the talent pipeline to help early career associates align their career goals with potential opportunities.
  • Identifies high potential emerging talent and connects them with Talent Acquisition for special projects and advancement opportunities.
  • Coaches early career associates to prepare them for the next step in their career journey by facilitating programs and workshops and/or providing individualized guided support.
  • Participates in meetings, project, and other working sessions to help solve problems, align viewpoints, gather data, and deliver results.
  • Fosters a culture of customer service excellence, high performance, professionalism, and career development.
  • Represents Jackson, both internally and externally, as a sponsor and advocate.
  • Engages with Jackson talent partners, such as universities, colleges, clubs, and organizations to identify and attract talent for Jackson.
  • Identifies potential risks and escalates appropriately.

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of Adult Learning Theory, workplace culture, and management and HR practices.
  • Understanding of instructional design with a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to leverage facilitator skill and experience, associate knowledge, and participation to maximize impact.
  • Ability to identify talent within the Strategic Support Program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels within the organization and with external customers.
  • Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills that can be applied in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills that include the application of business acumen and common sense.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills to meet project deadlines.

  • Ability to work beyond core business hours as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience required.

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in facilitating and/or creating onboarding, professional, or career development programs required.

  • 1+ years of related experience in coaching and/or associate development required.

  • Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred.
