Custodian I - 12 Months

JOB TITLE: Custodian - 12 Month

DUTY DAYS: 240 days

PAY GRADE: N01

SALARY SCHEDULE: 

Primary Purpose:

To assist in keeping the building and grounds clean, safe and sanitary

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

•  Minimal 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Must have working knowledge of custodial duties. Ability to supervise people in custodial  duties.  Must have a knowledge of janitorial supplies that have to be used in their work. Must have some basic mechanical ability 

 Experience:

• Some previous custodial experience 

 Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. To check grounds and facilities for damage and/or repairs needed.
2. To mop, wax and buff floors as needed and directed including restroom facilities.
3. To fill dispensers with towels, soaps and toilet tissue.
4. To clean windows and mirrors as needed.
5. To replace broken windows when needed.
6. To replace light bulbs as needed.
7. To turn lights out as required to conserve energy.
8. To dispose of paper, garbage and trash.
9. To remove all spots and stains as necessary. This should be done daily.
10. To wash and dry and dust cleaning equipment as needed.
11. To help set up chairs and tables as needed for meetings and other activities.
12. To know location and use of all fire fighting equipment.
13. To lock doors and windows to assure building security before leaving.
14. To report to assistant head custodian or head custodian any maintenance problem noticed.
15. To report to assistant head custodian or head custodian any unauthorized people who may be in building after building is closed. Do not let unauthorized people in building.
16. To perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director or Supervisor of Operations, Principal or Supervising Administrator or Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian.

Strenuous walking, standing and/or climbing, heavy lifting. Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperature night and day, exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials, slippery or uneven walking surfaces, work on ladders, work alone.
