POSITION TITLE: Digital Media Specialist
CLASSIFICATION: Classification “V” per Schedule A of the collective agreement
DEPARTMENT: Public Affairs and Communications
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
*Substitute vacancy for approximately 6 months

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Digital Media Specialist is a key contributor to building and maintaining a strong online presence for the University of Windsor, enhancing its brand and reputation through the creation of impactful, rich media content across current and emerging platforms, including institutional social media accounts and the institutional website, uwindsor.ca. This role communicates the University’s strategic priorities to diverse stakeholders through engaging and tailored digital content.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate will possess:
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience as determined by the department
• Three (3) years of marketing experience using a variety of current social and digital media communications platforms with measurable goals.
• Excellent written (copy, editing, grammar), verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to stakeholders
• Proficient in writing/organizing content for online, applying best practices and using a Content Management Systems (CMS)
• Proficient in website creation and maintenance using web development tools (i.e. Drupal)
• Proficient using social analytic tools (i.e.: Google Analytics)
• Proficient in using digital media editing software (i.e. Canva, Constant Contact, Foleon and Capcut) to edit cell phone photography and videography
• Experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint and Excel
• Highly-motivated and creative with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong analytical and data-driven skills
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and attend to competing priorities and multiple deadlines
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technology tools and processes
• Knowledge of applicable legislative, statutory and industry compliance requirements, such as AODA, CASL
• Knowledge of current website best practices and standards including User Experience (UX), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and Universal Design (UD)
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and discretion and act with tact and diplomacy
• General knowledge of issue tracking and project management software, and applicable legislative, statutory and industry compliance requirement
• Ability to archive digital assets on a variety of platforms including but not limited to SharePoint and OneDrive
