Job Description:

The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Administrative Specialist 2 position. This is an in-office position without the opportunity for a remote or hybrid work schedule.

Summary of Job Duties:

In this position, you will provide administrative support to the section Directors, Compliance Managers and staff in fulfilling the requirements and obligations for the operations and administration of as defined by the Tribal/State Gaming Compacts, Minimum Internal Control Standards and policies, rules and procedures.

You will interpret and apply Tribal/State Gaming compacts, federal and state laws, and rules and policies as they relate to background investigations, shipments of sensitive items, approval of new casino table games and training of the section’s professional staff.

In this position, you will manage the administrative functions of the section, including maintaining data bases for the management of information in support of all the section’s compliance programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; 

OR


An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Administrative experience to include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Ability to adapt, plan, organize, and multi-task to ensure completion of projects, tasks, and assignments with multiple competing priorities within a changing environment

  • Skilled in performing technical and administrative support functions requiring independent judgment, decision making and problem resolution

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to provide information in a clear, effective, and professional manner

  • Basic understanding of research techniques, sufficient to collect, analyze, interpret, and report data in both a narrative and statistical format and demonstrated ability to interpret laws, rules, policies and procedures and applying these interpretations to specific situations
