As a member of the accounting team, you will be supporting essential accounting and office services including payroll and benefits, compliance reporting, financial reporting, and contributing to team projects.
Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.
Meaningful work you will be a part of
Your responsibilities will be to:
Responsible for end-to end payroll processing across salaried and hourly populations, including shift-based workforce (Canada, US, and future international operations) in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Maintain and audit payroll data in Dayforce, including employee profiles, pay types, and shift configurations.
Investigate and resolve payroll issues related to system configuration and integrations.
Reconcile payroll and benefits and ensure that all related information is accurately recorded in general ledger, with costs assigned to the appropriate accounts and cost centres.
Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax requirements in all operating regions.
Process quarter-end accounting tasks, including accrual journal entries, WCB and EHT filings.
Assist with payroll-related year-end tasks, including tax forms and reporting.
Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a professional and timely manner.
Partner closely with Talent team to review and validate employee changes impacting payroll.
Support audits and maintain proper documentation for compliance purposes.
What you bring to the team

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:
5+ years of payroll & benefits experience in a complex environment, including shift rotations and hourly workforce. Experience in the medical device manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
High attention to detail and ability to manage complex, fast-changing payroll.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
Experience supporting shift-based or manufacturing environments.
Understanding of payroll & accounting concepts and best business practices.
Familiarity with payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions (Canada and US in particular).
Experience working with sophisticated HRIS systems (Dayforce strongly preferred).
Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax requirements in Canada and the US.
Ability to deliver accurate, timely work with strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Payroll certification (e.g., PCP).
Post-secondary education in Accounting, HR, or a related field (preferred).
Compensation
Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.
As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.
$74,000 - $93,000 (CAD Annually)
