Job Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Technician Lead – Level 6 serves as the technical authority for maintenance and reliability of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and utility systems within the facility

This role leads the resolution of the most complex and critical system failures, defines and standardizes maintenance practices, and drives system-level reliability improvements

The position partners closely with Engineering and Operations to optimize system performance, supports commissioning and upgrades, and provides technical direction to maintenance personnel while ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence

Essential Duties: Functional Operations: Oversee and perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and utility systems, serving as the escalation point for complex and non-routine issues Conduct advanced preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency Lead assessment and resolution of major utility outages and system failures, ensuring rapid restoration and identification of root causes Manage scopes of work for repairs and maintenance that comply with EHS standards, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and permitting requirements Own technical oversight of specialized vendor and contractor work, ensuring adherence to system requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations Interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to guide troubleshooting and repair activities Define and standardize maintenance approaches for critical systems, including troubleshooting methods, repair strategies, and escalation protocols Support equipment installation, commissioning, and system upgrades by providing technical expertise and ensuring maintainability and reliability considerations are incorporated Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Own and drive reliability strategies for critical systems, including preventive and predictive maintenance approaches Analyze system performance data and failure trends to identify systemic risks and implement long-term solutions Lead complex root cause investigations with cross-functional teams, including high-impact or recurring failures Establish and refine maintenance standards, procedures, and best practices across the facility Identify and lead implementation of system-level improvements to increase uptime, efficiency, and lifecycle performance Training & Team Support: Provide technical leadership and direction to Level 5 and junior technicians during complex troubleshooting and maintenance activities Establish and reinforce technical standards, troubleshooting methodologies, and best practices across the team Mentor and develop technicians to build advanced diagnostic and system-level thinking capabilities Serve as the primary escalation point for technical decision-making and problem resolution No authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, reward, or discipline other employees Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication: Partner with Engineering, Construction, and Operations to support system design, modifications, commissioning, and long-term reliability strategies Provide technical input on capital projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements to ensure maintainability and performance Lead technical response efforts for site emergencies, coordinating cross-functional teams and external resources as needed Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to ensure work meets technical, safety, and quality standards Communicate effectively with management, customers, and supporting departments regarding maintenance status, issues, and resolutions Prepare accurate Daily Shift Reports summarizing maintenance activities, site issues, and operational concerns Quality, Safety, & Compliance: Ensure maintenance practices, procedures, and system operations meet all regulatory and internal EHS standards Maintain detailed records and CMMS entries for audits, inspections, and traceability Support and lead audit readiness efforts related to maintenance processes, documentation, and system compliance Uphold 6S and cleanliness standards to maintain a safe and organized work environment Operate tools and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards Wear required PPE based on functional area, including full Tyvek or hazmat suits with respirators when needed Maintain flexibility to work all scheduled shift hours and respond to urgent site needs when required Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel Requirement: None Education, Certifications, and Licenses: Required: High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of prior experience in functional area Preferred: Trade school or vocational training; 2+ years of trade school or equivalent PIT License, MEWP, or State Issued Driver’s License CPR Certification QET Certification NFPA 70E and/or NFPA 70B OSHA 10 or 30 Certification HAZWOPER 8 or 40 Certification HVAC (EPA Section 608) Certification Essential Qualifications: 5+ years of advanced experience in industrial maintenance, facilities, or utilities systems Expert-level knowledge across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and/or pneumatic systems with the ability to diagnose complex, system-wide issues and define effective solutions Ability to analyze system interactions and dependencies across facility infrastructure to identify root causes of complex failures Ability to define maintenance strategies, reliability improvements, and technical standards for critical systems Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, direction, and decision-making support without formal supervisory authority Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Knowledge and application of Electrical Safety in the Workplace Advanced oral and written communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset Strong self-initiative, flexibility, and problem-solving skills Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English Alignment to Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude) Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of related industrial maintenance experience Experience in HVAC as a Journeyman/Mechanic or equivalent Experience in industrial manufacturing facilities Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and best practices Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements: To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is required and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator

A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area
