The Counter Sales Rep/Branch Associate is responsible for supporting both front counter sales and warehouse operations to ensure exceptional customer service and efficient branch logistics. This hands-on role assists customers with product selection and transactions while also managing inventory, order fulfillment, and daily operational tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong customer service skills, and effectively balances sales support with warehouse responsibilities to help maintain smooth and productive branch operations.

Location: Orange County, CA
Hours: 8A-5P
Compensation: $24-$25.50/HR

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales Support 

  • Greet and assist walk-in customers in a professional, friendly, and timely manner. 
  • Provide product information, recommendations, and demonstrations to meet customer needs.  Accurately process sales orders, returns, and transactions in the system. 
  • Handle cash and credit transactions in accordance with company cash-handling procedures. 
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming showroom and counter area. 
  • Stock showroom shelves and ensure product displays are properly maintained and merchandised. 
  • Support branch sales initiatives, including assisting with training or educational classes (setup and cleanup). 
  • Conduct courtesy follow-up calls to class attendees and assist with past-due account follow-up as directed. 
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure seamless branch operations and high customer satisfaction. 

Warehouse & Operations Support 

  • Receive, verify, and accurately enter incoming freight into company systems. 
  • Locate, count, store, stock, and ship warehouse merchandise. 
  • Assemble customer orders, prepare pallets, and stage shipments accurately and efficiently. 
  • Load and unload trucks during receiving and shipping activities. 
  • Sort and store materials on racks, bins, or shelves according to established procedures. 
  • Perform daily cycle counts and help resolve inventory discrepancies. 
  • Inspect and process product returns in accordance with company guidelines. 
  • Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, reach trucks, etc.) safely and professionally, if certified. 
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and adhere to all safety and sanitation standards. 
  • Update product locations and maintain accurate inventory records. 

Qualifications/ Skills

Qualifications 

 

Education & Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • 1–3 years of experience in customer service, counter sales, warehouse operations, or distribution preferred. 
  • Industry experience in janitorial, restoration, remediation, carpet cleaning, or related fields is a plus. 
  • Forklift or material handling certification preferred. 
  • Experience with cycle counts, inventory systems, and RF scanners preferred. 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, manuals, and work instructions. 
  • Basic math proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals). 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry systems. 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. 
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 75 lbs. 
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet operational deadlines. 

Additional Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 2 years of customer service or counter sales experience preferred.

  • Experience in janitorial, restoration, remediation, carpet cleaning, or installation industries is a plus.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Cash handling and basic accounting experience a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs. regularly.
