Associate Scientist
Job Description
• A position is available for a skilled bioanalytical scientist to join a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry laboratory in PDM with deep expertise in bioanalytical quantitation
• The lab based role entails the development of ultra-sensitive quantitative assays for small and large molecule biomarkers in relevant cells and biological fluids (plasma, tissue, etc.)
• This position requires strong bioanalytical expertise, proven expertise in chromatography, triple quadrupole quantitative mass spectrometry and potentially HRMS
• The candidate will participate in all phases of mass spec laboratory operations including the development of sample preparation and separation methods, assay execution, instrument maintenance, data analysis and reporting
• Run bioanalytical assays under minimal supervision; initiative in method development is expected
• Independent daily operation, calibration, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of multi-dimensional chromatography and triple quadrupole mass spectrometry instrumentation (high flow to nano scale, HPLC and SFC)
• Support analysis of lipid panel using SFC-MS/MS
• Support analysis of quantitative LC-MS/MS data using relevant bioinformatics and quantitation software
• Apply existing protein quantitation workflows using bead and column based immunoaffinity enrichment including the use of automation
• Support bio-marker and PK/PD studies as needed
• BS/MS level education in chemistry, biochemistry or related fields required; advanced degree may be a plus
• Industry experience in biopharma preferred
• Expertise in the operation and maintenance of LCs and mass spectrometers
• Experience with basic and complex quantitative LC-MS/MS assays (both large and small molecule LC/MS). Track record of method development skills particularly with novel and complex methods applied to bioanalytical questions
• Work well both independently and as part of a team. Collaborative skills and effective partnering skills in a matrix-environment
• Strong data organization and analysis skills and passion to learn new things in a fast paced environment
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with super critical fluid chromatography, immunoaffinity enrichment techniques or nano scale chromatography is a plus
• Strong excel based skills is also a plus
• Experience with Watson is a plus
