The Neuropsychology Psychometrist plays a critical role in the delivery of comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations. Working under the direct supervision of a doctoral-level licensed psychologist, this position performs clinical patient interviewing, test administration, and behavioral observation to support accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and research initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in psychology who are detail-oriented, compassionate, and interested in hands-on clinical experience.

Essential Functions

  • Administer and score standardized neuropsychological and psychological tests in accordance with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) guidelines that permit psychometrist involvement.

  • Assist the supervising psychologist/neuropsychologist by administering test batteries to assess intellectual functioning, cognitive abilities, organic involvement, personality functioning, and related clinical domains.

  • Schedule testing appointments, coordinate testing locations, and communicate proactively regarding any issues that may delay or interfere with testing procedures.

  • Accurately score tests using appropriate reference tables and draft score profiles for review by the supervising psychologist.

  • Observe patients before, during, and after testing; document and report behavioral observations that may impact test validity or interpretation.

  • Document patient performance and behavioral observations clearly and thoroughly during testing sessions.

  • Collaborate with psychologists, physicians, clinic staff, and related medical personnel to support efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.

  • Assist with research activities by administering neuropsychological test batteries to selected participants at designated intervals and ensuring accurate data collection.

  • Ensure all paperwork is prepared prior to patient visits and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations related to medical records and patient privacy.

  • Maintain, organize, and order testing materials and equipment to ensure adequate inventory and readiness.

  • Perform additional administrative and patient care duties as assigned.

Education / Experience / Licensure / Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field.

  • Minimum of 12 credit hours in Psychology coursework.

  • One year of experience in psychological or educational testing within a psychological practice or academic setting.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Experience and comfort working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and across the lifespan, including older adults.
  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in scoring and data entry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • General knowledge of psychological principles related to intelligence, aptitude, and personality assessment.
