Are you a detail-driven project professional who enjoys solving problems before they become costly? Do you have experience reviewing project documents, tracking deficiencies, coordinating with contractors, and helping projects stay on schedule and on standard?

The Adjutant General’s Department is looking for a Project Manager 1 to support construction, infrastructure, maintenance, and facility-related projects that directly contribute to mission-ready facilities and operational readiness.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will help manage quality assurance and quality control activities from project planning through closeout. You will work with project teams, contractors, vendors, military personnel, and other stakeholders to help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved standards.

You will:

  • Support QA/QC planning for construction, infrastructure, maintenance, and facility projects.

  • Review drawings, submittals, red-lines, as-builts, inspection requirements, and contract documents.

  • Monitor inspections, field activities, materials, workmanship, and completed work.

  • Track deficiencies, non-conformance issues, corrective actions, and quality trends.

  • Maintain accurate project records, reports, inspection documentation, and closeout materials.

  • Prepare project updates and summaries for leadership and stakeholders.

  • Support final inspections, closeout documentation, and lessons learned.

  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, project teams, military personnel, regulatory partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, quality, and mission-focused service.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in both office and field environments.

Strong candidates may have experience with:

  • At least 3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal).

     

  • At least 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects. 

OR

  • Have successfully completed 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned

  • At least 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects. 

OR

  • The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Working Conditions

Performs work between office and field sites, including construction, utility, infrastructure, maintenance, and facility project environments. May be exposed to outdoor weather, active machinery, noise, dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, and standard project site hazards. Travel to project locations, meetings, trainings, or other work-related activities may be required.

Pursuant to Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 12 (HSPD 12), the final candidate selected for this position will be required to successfully complete a National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) to secure employment.

Salary Information:

This position is assigned as a pay range 15 of the State of Ohio’s pay schedule, with a starting hourly rate of $43.09 and current range up to $61.56 per hour. Starting pay is usually at the minimum of the range unless otherwise required by law or union contract, or unless the selected candidate's qualifications warrant consideration above the minimum.

With continued employment and satisfactory performance, employees generally advance to the next pay step after six (6) months and then annually thereafter. Cost-of-living adjustments are typically applied on July 1.
