Child Care Assistant
Full-time, Term Position

Department: Norwest Early Learning and Child Care Centre

Location: 105 Lucas Ave and 785 Keewatin

Position: Child Care Assistant (full-time, term position)

Shift: Available between 7:00am-5:00pm

Daily hours: 9 hours including one-hour unpaid lunch and 2 paid 15 min breaks

Salary: As per CUPE Daycare contract

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Sept 4, 2026

Qualifications:

Classification as Child Care Assistant
Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills
Current first-aid and CPR certification (Level C)
Good understanding of Manitoba Child Care Program’s Regulations
Must be energetic, friendly and enthusiastic
Must be willing to take initiative
Experience in implementing activities an asset
Subject to successful criminal record with vulnerable sector search & child abuse registry check.
Must complete mandatory 40-hour course approved by Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care (within first 6 months of employment)

Responsibilities:

To ensure the physical care and safety of the children.
To provide emotional support and nurturing care to children
To provide children with the opportunity for growth and development
To follow Centre’s behaviour management policy
To maintain confidentiality; follow licensing regulations, to know and follow Centre policies and procedures.
To work with a team of professionals to meet the individual needs of children who require additional supports.
Communicate regularly with families
To work directly with children and families who require additional supports
Other duties as assigned
