Job Description


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Analytical Imaging Facility (AIF) is a College-wide core resource administered by the Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center specializing in offering sophisticated imaging modalities to biomedical scientists at all levels of expertise. The technician will participate in the light microscopy component of a variety of projects from a diverse group of investigators.

 

Procedures include:

  • Operation and maintenance of basic turnkey light microscopes, under supervision. 
  • Assist to digitize H&E and fluorescence slides with a slide scanner.
  • Assist users in basic microscope operation.
  • Use commercial software platforms to visualize image data.
  • Assist with maintenance of computer hardware and software.
  • Under supervision perform basic image analysis using lab developed protocols.
  • Assist with routine sample prep for light sheet microscopy.

The person will:

  • Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;
  • Require occasional guidance;
  • Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
  • Rarely modify technical procedures;
  • Rarely train other lab members;
  • Rarely guide other lab members;
  • A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
  • Occasionally analyze data;
  • Rarely interpret data;
  • Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.

 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree required, and zero to two years of related experience.

     


Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rates for this are listed below. This rate is based on the 1199 bargaining unit contract.

Maximum Salary Range

USD $26.80/Hr.
