Medical Secretary

• Meet/greet/communicate with residents/family members/visitors/staff
• Answer incoming calls
• Complete Medicare/Insurance eligibility checks for new admissions
• Arrange appointments and transportation of residents
• Keep electronic medical records up to date with census changes- admissions, discharges, etc.
• Order needed medical equipment/supplies
• Manage physician visits
• Monitor resident charges
• Manage resident personal funds
• Maintain accurate billing
• Back up health unit coordinator as needed
• Other office duties as assigned

• Prior secretarial experiences are preferred, but not required
• Prior experience in a long-term care setting is very beneficial, but not required
• Knowledge of Medicare/Advantage Plans is beneficial, but not required
• Prior experience using PointClickCare (electronic medical record) is beneficial, but not required
