Location: Remote; one week per month in Lincolnshire
Travel: 50% overnight travel
Position Summary
The Field Safety Director leads environmental, health, and safety programs across Camping World’s national retail dealership and RV service center network. Reporting to the VP of Safety, this role provides strategic field leadership, develops Regional Safety Managers, partners with senior operations leaders, and drives consistent execution of the company’s “True North” safety culture across all territories.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop Regional Safety Managers across multiple territories while maintaining a strong national field presence.
Partner with Regional SVPs, Market Managers, Fixed Operations Directors, and field leadership to align safety strategies with operational execution.
Standardize and reinforce Camping World’s “True North” safety culture, shifting safety from compliance activity to daily operating habit.
Oversee safety audits and inspections across service bays, retail floors, parts departments, lots, and support areas.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, fire code, and applicable state and local requirements.
Develop and deploy SOPs for high-risk work, including RV roof access, fall protection, forklift operations, LOTO, hot work, and welding.
Track corrective actions and hold regional and facility leaders accountable for timely closure of safety findings.
Lead response, root cause analysis, corrective action, and prevention strategies for serious injuries, fleet incidents, and customer property damage.
Provide executive reporting on incident trends, risk exposure, and systemic remediation plans.
Partners with HR, Risk Management, and third-party claims administrators to reduce workers’ compensation impact and strengthen return-to-work practices.
Oversee field safety training, including localized instructor-led programs for RV-specific hazards.
Lead safety onboarding and integration for newly acquired dealerships and regional safety personnel.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or related field.
8+ years of progressive safety management experience, including 3+ years in senior multi-site, multi-region, or divisional leadership.
Experience in automotive retail, RV service, commercial truck/service operations, equipment manufacturing, construction, industrial manufacturing, or logistics.
CSP designation required; strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, incident investigation, claims management, and field safety systems.
Proven ability to influence leaders and frontline teams, communicate clearly, and drive accountability across dispersed operations.
Ability to travel up to 50% overnight, with flexibility for urgent incident response.

The pay range for this role considers several factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Camping World, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the factors stated. A reasonable estimate of the current range is listed below.
Pay Range:
