We are seeking a highly skilled Indirect Tax Specialist to join our dynamic controllership team. This senior role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in indirect tax operations, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting and supporting global tax activities.
Responsibilities:
Support global indirect tax compliance activities, including the preparation, review, and validation of indirect tax reconciliations, returns, and related filings across multiple jurisdictions
Support key accounting responsibilities, including month-end close and financial reporting activities
Monitor changes in indirect tax legislation, administrative guidance, and regulatory developments, and assess their impact on the organization’s compliance obligations, reporting processes, and business operations
Manage and support U.S. indirect tax audits and assist with international indirect tax audits, including responding to tax authorities’ inquiries, coordinating documentation requests, tracking audit progress, and supporting resolution of audit findings
Analyze tax exposure and risk, identifying efficiency opportunities and process improvements
Provide technical guidance on the indirect tax implications of business transactions, contracts, intercompany flows, and operational changes, ensuring appropriate treatment from both a compliance and financial reporting perspective
Support the testing, deployment, and stabilization of system upgrades, tax engine changes, and new financial modules, including coordination with IT, finance, and external vendors where applicable
Contribute to the international rollout and optimization of automated VAT return processes, including support for tools such as Vertex VAT Compliance (VVC)
Support the implementation of E-invoicing solution across international jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with local requirements and assisting with testing, compliance processes, and ongoing support for Vertex e-Invoice
Work closely with regional and country finance teams to enhance tax governance, standardize processes, improve data quality, and strengthen financial and tax controls
Collaborate cross-functionally with controllership, procurement, legal, supply chain, IT, and commercial teams to ensure consistent application of accounting and tax policies across the organization
Develop, maintain, and improve process documentation, control narratives, and standard operating procedures to support sustainability, compliance, and operational excellence
Support the indirect tax aspects of acquisition integrations and participate in due diligence activities, under the guidance of the Controller and Manager
Assist with special projects, tax planning support, process redesign initiatives, and other strategic indirect tax matters as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 3 years in indirect tax compliance
Working knowledge of US GAAP or other accounting standards, internal controls, and global indirect tax frameworks
Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and advanced proficiency in Excel
Experience in multinational or public/international organizations preferred
Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge
Analytical, detail-oriented, and results-driven
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage complex workflows and competing priorities
High integrity and commitment to compliance and ethical standards
