Full-timeonsite
Job Description
The future of cloud computing is being built by engineers who need an HR leader who can match their pace. AWS Compute Abstractions — a multi-billion dollar portfolio powering millions of customer workloads across Containers, Serverless, High Performance Computing, and Quantum — is looking for a Senior HRBP to develop and execute people strategy for some of the fastest-growing, most technically complex services at AWS. You'll partner directly with senior engineering leaders navigating AI-first transformation, organizational change, and specialized talent — balancing strategic consulting with hands-on ownership of talent reviews, compensation, and workforce planning
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and execute people strategy for assigned organizations, translating business needs into actionable HR plans
- Partner with senior leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning — particularly as the organization redefines engineering contribution in an AI-first world
- Lead Organization and Leadership Reviews twice annually, driving talent calibration, development planning, and organizational health priorities
- Analyze workforce metrics (retention, attrition, sentiment, high performer data) to identify emerging risks and recommend systemic improvements
- Strong coaching skills paired with high judgment — able to read complex situations, calibrate the right approach, and act decisively in ambiguity
- Support AI-first workforce transformation by helping engineering leaders adapt career frameworks and development practices
- Work closely with specialist HR teams (Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employee Relations) and matrixed global HR colleagues to deliver integrated solutions across regions
- Leverage Gen AI tools to improve HR processes while maintaining transparency and using high judgement before implementation
A day in the life
This role balances strategic partnership with hands-on execution. You'll coach senior engineering leaders through organizational change, analyze workforce data to get ahead of retention risks, and run the operational rhythm of talent reviews and compensation cycles. You'll collaborate closely with specialist HR teams — Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employee Relations, and HR Support — to deliver integrated solutions. You'll deliver independently while partnering with the HRBP Lead on cross-portfolio priorities.
About the team
AWS Compute Abstractions is a globally distributed, primarily engineering organization spanning Seattle, Santa Clara, Vancouver, and Dublin. The portfolio includes Containers, Serverless, High Performance Computing, and Quantum services — collectively serving millions of customers from startups to enterprises running production AI workloads at scale. You'll be part of a broader HR team supporting Compute and PLEX — working alongside HR peers with shared goals and collaborating with HR leaders across functions to deliver on behalf of the business.
