Position Summary
The Union Remittance Specialist is responsible for processing monthly Union Craft remittances to ensure union dues, funds and benefit payments are processed on time, accurately and in compliance with union agreements and government regulations.
Core Responsibilities
Develop and implement ongoing reconciliation processes between Dayforce and DIS.
Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to union remittances using computerized and manual systems
Compile union dues, funds and benefit data and documents based on DIS and Payroll reports
Prepare monthly union remittance statements or reports
Calculate monthly union dues, funds and benefit for each union using remittance templates
Investigate and resolve union remittance discrepancies
Manual union table entry into DIS and Dayforce
Partner with Payroll Manager to resolve Dayforce and DIS data and reporting issues
Support both Canadian and U.S. payroll operations, ensuring compliance with multi-state and multi-provincial union collective agreements.
Provide subject matter expertise on union remittances, including payments and reconciliations.
Respond to inquiries from employees and unions
High volume, bulk of workload to occur within first 2 weeks of each month
Qualifications
At least 5+ years’ experience in a high-volume, fast-paced union payroll environment for 2000 employees
Experience with Dayforce software (or similar payroll platforms). DIS software experience considered an asset.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliation formulas)
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Accurate data-entry skills with strong attention to detail required
Ability to multi-task with excellent time management and organizational skills
Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet critical deadlines
