Civil/Structural Designer (Entry Level)

Job Description

  • Assist in the design of bridge and culvert structures

  • Support roadway design and traffic control plan development

  • Assist with preparation of construction plans for highway and bridge projects

  • Participate in ADA curb ramp design and related site improvements

  • Perform basic engineering calculations and structural analysis under supervision

  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and construction submittals

  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop design documents

  • Conduct field data collection, including traffic counts as required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 0–4 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of CADD software (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro) is a plus
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain within one year
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings (plans, elevations, cross-sections)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, or City of Philadelphia standards
  • Exposure to bridge or transportation design projects
