Job Description

The General Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction for the manufacturing site operations. The role has full responsibility for production, engineering, new product development, planning, quality, supply chain, logistics, and supplier quality.
The General Manager ensures the site meets customer requirements, achieves company financial and operational objectives, and continuously improves operational performance. This role drives operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement while developing high-performing teams and strengthening organizational capability.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the General Manager contributes to shaping the organization’s operations strategy and ensures effective execution at the site level.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership to the site as part of the Management Team, shaping and executing the Global Operations vision, strategy, and priorities.
  • Align site operations with corporate strategy and ensure achievement of organizational goals and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to evaluate operational performance and adjust strategies based on business conditions and results.

Operational Management

  • Oversee all operational functions including production, engineering, NPD planning, quality, supply chain, logistics, and supplier quality.
  • Ensure efficient and effective manufacturing operations while meeting cost, quality, delivery, and safety targets.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Ensure successful execution of new product development programs and product launches.

Continuous improvement & Operational excellence

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and process capability.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem-solving methodologies.
  • Implement best practices and process optimization across all operational areas.
  • Drive operational transformation initiatives to improve cost structure and operational performance.

Financial & Business performance

  • Monitor operational activities, financial performance, production efficiency, and forecast data to ensure progress toward business objectives.
  • Manage operational budgets and control manufacturing costs.
  • Ensure alignment between operational performance and financial targets.

People leadership & Organizational development

  • Build, develop, and lead high-performing teams across all site functions.
  • Attract, retain, and develop supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operational staff.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and leadership guidance to site leadership teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Compliance, Safety & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) regulations, corporate policies, and industry standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity, operational policies, and regulatory frameworks.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, functional leadership teams, and corporate management.
  • Collaborate with external customers, suppliers, and partners to support operational and business goals.
  • Represent the site in executive-level discussions and operational reviews.

 

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline; MBA or additional Master’s degree in Finance or Business management is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing large operational teams and cross-functional organizations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and organizational management capabilities.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt / Black Belt preferred).
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, production planning, and inventory control.
  • Solid knowledge of Quality Management systems and New product development processes.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including manufacturing cost structures and operational budgeting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to drive operational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong presentation and executive communication skills.

Fluency in English (spoken and written).
