Product Owner - POS & Payments
Job Description
As Product Owner, you will collaborate across IT and business teams to deliver modern, integrated payment solutions that drive guest satisfaction, support sales growth, and maintain exemplary uptime and compliance with all industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Vision & Strategy: Understand and contribute to product vision and roadmap for Casey’s guest-payment experiences across in-store POS, fuel pump/outdoor payment terminals, and mobile payments.
- Roadmap & Backlog Ownership: Translate Casey’s strategic objectives and guest needs into a prioritized product backlog for all payment features and enhancements. Continuously refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint priorities to optimize delivery of new capabilities such as contactless payments, and loyalty-linked fuel discounts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders for payment initiatives. Partner closely with Engineering/Development, Store Operations, Fuel systems teams, Cybersecurity, Finance and Digital/Loyalty teams and others to ensure alignment and smooth delivery of payment solutions across all channels.
- Vendor & Partner Coordination: Work in partnership with key payment technology partners, including POS system vendors, fuel dispenser/payment terminal providers, payment processors/gateways (e.g., Worldpay, ACI/Comdata), and loyalty/payments solution partners. Coordinate certification processes (e.g., EMV pump certifications, payment network testing) and ensure third-party dependencies are identified, tracked, and resolved for on-time delivery.
- Feature Delivery & Quality: Lead requirements gathering and feature definition for payment system upgrades, including new hardware (e.g., PIN pads, EMV outdoor card readers) and software features (e.g., mobile pay integrations, support for emerging payment technology and fleet cards). Work with UX designers to optimize the checkout/payment user experience. Oversee testing plans and user acceptance to ensure robust performance, and P2PE encryption.
- Compliance & Security: Stay abreast of payment industry regulations and standards (EMV, PCI DSS, Conexxus standards, fuel-industry mandates). Proactively ensure compliance and timely certification of Casey’s payment systems to meet external requirements (e.g., card network deadlines, PCI audits) and internal security policies. Collaborate with internal teams to implement secure payment practices that protect customer data and maintain brand trust.
- Data-Driven Product Management: Define KPIs and success metrics for payment experiences. Monitor performance analytics (e.g., authorization rates, pump vs. in-store payment mix, contactless usage) and drive continuous improvements based on data insights.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate product plans, progress, and performance to stakeholders at all levels. Ensure issues impacting store operations or guest payments are escalated and addressed promptly.
- Customer Experience Focus: Serve as the champion for seamless guest payment experiences. Gather feedback from store operations, guest insights, etc. to identify pain points in payment flows.
Compensation:
Starting pay range: $91,600-120,200. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the typical hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.
