The Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a part time Video Producer.

About this Opportunity

The Video Producer is part of the Allen School Video Production team and is responsible for writing, producing, and directing complex video projects for the University of Washington's Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. This position will manage all phases of production, from planning, recording, editing, and delivery. Projects may include, but are not limited to, informational vignettes, departmental promotional pieces, short documentaries, and colloquia and seminar lectures.

This is a 50% FTE position.

Key Responsibilities

Producer (40%)

  • Meets with clients and makes recommendations on how to achieve communication objectives within project specifications, budget, and timeline.

  • Creates original concepts and instructional design to effectively communicate to target audience.

  • Plans and prepares planning materials such as scripts and storyboards.

  • Produces broadcast-quality video that presents research and instructional results, complex technical issues, as well as Allen School events.

  • Oversees the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing during recording and through editing and final delivery.

  • Ensures that the final product complies with state and federal laws regarding copyright and privacy issues.

Editor (40%)

  • Logs and captures all video, audio, graphics, and music.

  • Crafts content into cohesive narrative that clearly communicates the information presented in a way that the target audience can best understand.

  • Works with all stakeholders to hone rough drafts into final versions, incorporating feedback as well as providing professional recommendations for how to best achieve the intended product.

  • Aesthetically enhances raw materials using post-production techniques such as color correction and timing, audio sweetening, and graphics and animations.

  • Produces final project and delivers it in the necessary format.

Director (20%)

  • Manages staff, setup, production, and teardown/inventory.

  • Directs single-camera, multi-camera, and field productions.

  • Conducts interviews for documentary- and news gathering-style videos, connecting with interview subjects to help them best communicate their stories.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in broadcasting, communication, journalism, or related field and 4 years of producing, editing, and directing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Audio and video engineering

  • Experience with Graphic design and motion graphics

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$88,800.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$92,400.00 annual
