GENERAL FABRICATOR 1 – 2ND SHIFT
Davis Creek | Kalamazoo, MI | Full-Time | Mon-Thu, 5:00 AM-3:30 PM | Overtime as available

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
As a General Fabricator at Schupan, you will build the metal products our customers depend on -- accurately, safely, and to spec. You will operate a range of fabrication equipment and play a direct role in our production quality.
HOW YOU WILL DO IT
- Operate fabrication equipment including cutoff saw, punch press, form roll, and drill press to cut and shape components
- Operate hydraulic cranes (by hand) to load material into machines
- Produce required quantities of parts within established specifications and tolerances
- Measure finished parts with precision tools to ensure quality and cosmetic compliance
- Fit and assemble components
- Inspect equipment before use to ensure proper setup and alignment; perform basic maintenance
- Consult with quality assurance and inspect workpieces to identify out-of-tolerance machining
- Maintain logs of units produced including any rejected or discarded pieces
- Follow ISO quality procedures and maintain cleanliness of work area
- Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with MIOSHA safety rules
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Basic requirements:
- 1-3 months of related manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Prior knowledge of blueprints and precision technical plans (preferred)
- Ability to read a measuring tape and work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Ability to read and follow written, oral, and diagrammed instructions
Physical requirements:
- Stand and walk for the majority of the shift; frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Routinely lift up to 25 lbs.; occasionally 50+ lbs.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts
- Ability to wear all required safety equipment
- Ability to work in a noisy, non-temperature-controlled environment with lockout/tagout safety practices

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 months of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Prior knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models (preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Routinely required to stand and walk (for majority of shift); use hands to handle and feel; reach with arms and hands; as well as climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, lifting and pulling
- Routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
- Must be able to wear all necessary safety equipment.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Routinely work in a noisy (company-provided hearing protection is required) and non-temperature-controlled environment.
- Able to work in an environment where lock-out/tag-out is a standard safety practice.
- Routinely work in environment with gas-powered and other forklifts and machinery.
