Be the Professional Who Turns Support Into Opportunity. Help Shape Better Futures for Children with SEND.

If you’re passionate about inclusive practice and want your work to have a real, lasting impact on children and young people, this role offers the opportunity to do exactly that.

Lancashire’s Inclusion Service is committed to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. We’re strengthening our SEND services to ensure families feel supported, heard and confident in the system that surrounds them.

As a SEND EHCP Officer, you will play a vital role in shaping meaningful Education, Health and Care Plans — ensuring that children’s needs, strengths and aspirations are at the heart of every decision. Your work will directly influence outcomes, experiences and life chances across the county.

This is a role where professional judgement, compassion and collaboration truly matter.

About the Role

Working with allocated educational settings, you will manage the full end‑to‑end EHCP process — from assessment and plan writing through to reviews, amendments and reassessments. You will co‑produce high‑quality, person‑centred plans with children, families and partner agencies, ensuring they are clear, compliant and outcome‑focused.

You will work closely with SENCOs, education, health and care professionals to monitor provision, respond to emerging needs and maintain statutory timescales. You’ll attend reviews where appropriate, contribute to panels and dispute resolution processes, and support informed, collaborative decision‑making.

Alongside your casework, you will maintain accurate digital records, use monitoring systems to track provision and contribute to service improvement activity aligned with the SEND Improvement Plan. Throughout, you will champion inclusive practice and ensure children and young people are supported to prepare for adulthood and achieve their potential.

About You

You will bring experience working with children, young people, families or the public, ideally within a SEND or multi‑agency environment. You have a strong understanding of SEND legislation, safeguarding and the EHCP process, or the capability and commitment to apply this knowledge confidently in practice.

You communicate clearly and empathetically, building trust with families and professionals while navigating complex information and differing perspectives. You are organised, reflective and able to manage a diverse caseload while meeting statutory deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.

You’ll be comfortable producing clear, structured written documentation and using digital systems to support case management and service planning. Above all, you are committed to inclusive, person‑centred practice and continuous improvement.

You will hold a relevant qualification or equivalent experience, along with GCSE grade 5 (or equivalent) in English and Maths. This is an essential car user post, and you must be able to provide a vehicle insured for business use.
