Role Description
Join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Maintenance Technician and contribute to our mission to advance health, environmental, and safety initiatives. In this key role, you'll ensure optimal equipment performance and maintenance while supporting continuous improvement in our manufacturing facilities. You'll resolve complex technical issues, coordinate preventive maintenance programs, and collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams. Your expertise will directly impact the production of essential scientific and medical products used by researchers and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain customised production equipment within a cleanroom environment, including reactive breakdowns, critical equipment calibrations, and finishing the preventative maintenance schedules on time and to plan
Maintain and manage all facility supporting equipment, consisting of Air Handling Units (AHU), Cochran Steam Boilers, and Chiller plant equipment
Ensure preventative maintenance work orders are completed accurately and on time, including collating all remedial actions, raising relevant work orders for traceability, and tracking to closure
Allocate spare parts to task, adequately cover breakdowns and planned preventative maintenance liaising with Parts Control Specialist handling all critical spares to a minimum/maximum quantity on site
Populate all maintenance tasks carried out via the computer maintenance management system (CMMS) used on site; IBM Maximo training/detail will be provided
Coordinate and handle external contractors attending site, including reviewing all training documents, and Risk Assessment/Method Statements (RAMS) presented prior to attendance to site; previous contractor management experience would be helpful
Requirements/Qualifications
Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic experience supported by an NVQ level 3 apprenticeship with relevant workplace experience. Working with Alan Bradley PLC including fault diagnosis would be advantageous.
Experience working with Cochran Steam Boilers and HVAC/Chiller systems.
Experience of working to planned preventative maintenance critical timelines.
Understanding of EHS relating to maintenance activities.
A good understanding of GMP compliance.
Knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
Good interpersonal skills required as working with multiple departments on site.
Ability to prioritise engineering decisions to ensure the smooth running of the building and the production process minimising any unnecessary downtime.
