Job Description

As Legal Counsel Americas, you will play a key role in supporting EssCo’s operations across North and South America, acting as a trusted business partner to commercial, supply chain, procurement, and functional teams. 
In this regional role, you will support critical business initiatives in a dynamic envirornment, including carve-out stabilization activities, commercial growth, compliance programs, and governance matters across multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance, you will help shape legal processes and drive business success throughout the Americas.
This position is part of the essential business within Animal Nutrition & Health business. This is one of the two standalone entities to be created from ANH, as part of the divestment to CVC capital. It is and will be an innovation‑focused, customer‑facing Animal Nutrition company, bringing together the capabilities that deliver value‑added, science‑based, integrated solutions for the global animal protein value chain.

 


Your Key Responsabilities: 

  • Partner with commercial, procurement, supply chain, HR, and business leadership teams across the Americas, providing practical and business-oriented legal advice.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including sales, distribution, procurement, manufacturing, supplier, confidentiality, and service contracts.
  • Support legal aspects of import/export, trade compliance, warehousing, and distribution activities, with particular focus on Brazil and Mexico operations.
  • Manage litigation, disputes, regulatory inquiries, and compliance investigations, coordinating external counsel and internal stakeholders as required.
  • Support the implementation of compliance, ethics, and governance frameworks, including anti-bribery, competition law, data privacy, and corporate governance initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, including carve-out stabilization activities, business transformation programs, corporate housekeeping, and selected business development initiatives.

You bring:

  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction within the Americas (U.S., Canada, or a Latin American jurisdiction preferred).
  • Consolidated years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally combining private practice and in-house experience within multinational organizations.
  • Strong experience in commercial contracting, procurement-related legal matters, supplier agreements, and general corporate law in Amércias region.
  • Solid exposure to compliance, investigations, litigation management, trade compliance, and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a complex, matrixed, and international business environment while effectively influencing stakeholders.
  • Fluent English and Portuguese communication skills, Spanish are highly preferred given the regional scope of the role.
