Job Description

Highland Family Medicine is seeking FNP Residents for its 2026-27 rural class.  Candidates for this role would work a 1-year FNP residency with our Highland Family Medicine/TriCounty Family Medicine team.  This cohort will begin the residency the first week of September 2026 and will run through August 31, 2027. Chance to stay on as a permanent FNP after residency is a possibility.

This is an Advance Nurse Education Nurse Practitioner Residency funded position. Candidates who complete residency may be eligible for loan forgiveness. 


Some duties include but are not limited to:
NP resident provides direct patient care to patients throughout the lifespan during precepted continuity clinics. Provides care according to professional Nurse Practitioner and community standards for advanced clinical practice utilizing clinical practice and Family Medicine guidelines, protocols, and procedures. Patient care guided by state and federal laws, DEA regulations, and the New York State Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act.

Participates in structured post-graduate residency training sessions to include rotations through specialty clinics, weekly formal learning sessions on a variety of complex clinical challenges, chronic
disease management, inter-professional projects focused on population health, didactic training in leadership, and participation in team quality improvement (QI) cycles to improve health system processes.


No call responsibilities
 
Travel:
Several specialty rotations and Core training is in the Rochester Area; however, we have many in the Southern Tier, additionally travel to Brockport or Canandaigua may be required.

Travel reimbursement is available for eligible travel expenses.

Salary Range:
$82,430.00 annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
