Responsibilities

SCA Health is building a more connected, insight-driven and execution-focused organization. The Chief of Staff will play a critical role with SCA Health’s executive leadership team, driving alignment, clarity, communication and performance across the business. This includes responsibility for leading and executing high-visibility cross-functional projects across SCA Health, establishing and maintaining the rhythm of business cadences, monitoring business performance against the strategies through metrics, and leading SCA Health’s internal enterprise and corporate reporting within Optum and UHG. 

 

This role serves as a trusted advisor to SCA Health’s CEO and the executive team, ensuring that business priorities remain focused in a committed cadence and actionable insights are translated so leadership is equipped with timely, accurate and strategic reporting to drive decision-making and communicate confidence inside and outside the organization. 

 

This leader will report through the Enterprise Strategy function at SCA Health, and serve as a key partner to the Vice President, Enterprise Strategy by proactively assuming responsibility for driving and executing strategic initiatives and executive projects working collaboratively with leaders and teams across the organization. This role requires the ability to navigate a matrixed organization and remain in action orientation in ambiguity, critical thinking, strong vision, execution, and advanced verbal and written communication skills.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Executive Reporting & Metrics Oversight

  • Lead the development and delivery of high-impact executive-level internal reports including Management Business Objectives (MBOs)
  • Own the end-to-end process for Optum reporting by quarterbacking all requests across the SCA Health leadership team, ensuring alignment with appropriate leaders on responses, and creating a source of truth for all reporting processes and requirements
  • Optum Reporting includes but is not limited to Optum Close Reports, MBOs, Objective and Key Results (OKRs), Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), UHG earnings and Board of Director preparation requests.
  • Contribute to production of and facilitate follow up coordination from the Enterprise Monthly Action Plan (MAP).

Strategic Planning & Business Operations

  • Partner closely with CEO and Sherpa Executive team to drive key strategic initiatives across the organization
  • Facilitate weekly and monthly priority setting, ensuring visibility and accountability across leadership teams
  • Manage the development of MBOs / OKRs to ensure alignment across the executive team in delivering against goals
  • Track progress against key milestones on critical projects/ initiatives to communicate status and results
  • Support the execution of strategic initiatives by providing data-driven insights and operational rigor

Leadership Engagement & Communication

  • Act as a strategic partner and extension of the CEO—preparing materials, synthesizing information, leading communications and enabling decision-making.
  • Orchestrate leadership team meetings (Sherpa Council) and onsite sessions ensuring agendas are aligned with strategic priorities, ownership of recap notes, and outcomes are actioned.
  • Lead and manage executive communications in partnership with Communication team, including talking points, briefing materials and enterprise-wide messaging
  • Serve as a liaison to the Optum Health Chief of Staff community, ensuring alignment and consistency across shared initiatives and recurring forums
  • Partner with Communications on internal communication strategies such as all-employee meetings to further employee engagement
  • Create CEO updates and strategic presentations for internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MHA, or advanced business/healthcare degree preferred
  • 5+ years of professional experience in healthcare operations, strategic planning or transformation
  • Experience successfully translating a vision into results and leading enterprise level strategies and reporting
  • Deep understanding of strategy, operations, reporting and forecasting with a demonstrated ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions
  • Experienced collaborator with demonstrated success working with executive management and building strong relationships across a variety of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in proactively understanding needs and act on those needs; ability to conceptualize and effectuate change management and “out of the box” thinking
  • Strong communicator; capable of effectively presenting ideas and selling concepts and tactics; excellent writer, proven ability to communicate effectively with executive levels
  • Highly influential, strategic thinker, willing to challenge siloed thinking and drive change at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in creating professional presentations and developing messaging around business strategies
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, growth-oriented, and ambiguous environments
  • Able to handle highly confidential or sensitive information in a professional, discreet manner
  • Ability to travel as needed
USD $150,200.00/Yr. USD $215,000.00/Yr.
