Job Description
The Vacancy
We are always looking for exceptional individuals to join our multinational group of talented professionals, and right now we are seeking to recruit a motivated and talented Hardware Engineer to join our team in Kent.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll be directly involved in both new product development and sustaining engineering, designing robust hardware solutions for portable test instruments that rely on accurate low-level analogue measurement and embedded control systems. You’ll see your work progress from concept through design, testing, and into production—delivering real impact in applications used by engineers around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Design analogue and digital electronic circuits to specification, including simulation and laboratory validation.
- Develop and review PCB layouts using industry-standard ECAD tools (Altium preferred).
- Produce clear, high-quality design documentation including schematics, design descriptions, and technical records.
- Define and compile Bills of Materials (BOMs), balancing performance, cost, availability, and obsolescence risk.
- Work closely with firmware and mechanical engineers as part of integrated product development teams.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, ensuring compliance with internal QA processes and relevant international standards.
- Contribute to design reviews, presenting and defending technical solutions to peers and stakeholders.
- Support production and sustaining engineering, including component obsolescence management and circuit redesigns.
- Use structured engineering practices such as DFT, DFM, FMEA and value engineering where appropriate.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously develop your technical capability.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
We’re looking for engineers who enjoy getting into the detail, solving complex problems, and building reliable, well-engineered products.
- Degree (2:1 or above) or HND/HNC in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electronic product design
- Strong background in both analogue and digital circuit design
- Experience working with low-level analogue signals (measurement/processing focus highly desirable)
- Confident using ECAD tools (Altium preferred) for schematic capture and PCB design
- Understanding of EMC considerations and design for compliance/manufacturing
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools (e.g. SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, MathCAD) desirable
- Familiarity with relevant standards (ISO 9001, IEC 61010, IEC 61557, etc.) advantageous
- Hands-on experience with lab and test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, power supplies and DMMs
- Strong fault-finding, debugging and component-level rework skills
- Clear communicator with the ability to present technical ideas and write structured engineering documentation
- Comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
