Compensation: £25,000 - £29,000 / year

Description

At Penrose Health, we’re looking for a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to help us deliver safe, efficient, and timely medication services across our practices. This isn’t your traditional dispensing role - you’ll work closely with Pharmacists, GPs, and the wider clinical team to manage prescription workflows, monitor medications, and support audits - all while ensuring our patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing prescription workflows – keeping everything safe, smooth, and on time.
  • Monitoring medications – including blood tests and drug levels for patient safety.
  • Handling prescription queries – solving problems and keeping communication clear.
  • Liaising with pharmacies and hospitals – making sure everyone’s on the same page.
  • Processing clinical letters – turning paperwork into action.
  • Supporting audits & medicines optimisation – helping reduce waste and improve care.
  • Contributing to cost-effective prescribing – because smart choices matter.
  • Managing stock of emergency drugs – ensuring the right meds are always available.
  • Working with the wider MDT – teamwork makes the healthcare dream work!

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Knowledge
-Understanding of medication workflows and prescription processes
-Awareness of safe medication monitoring (bloods, drug levels
-Familiarity with medicines optimisation principles

- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)

-Ability to manage high-volume prescription requests

Qualifications
- Pharmacy Dispenser qualification OR minimum 1-year experience in community pharmacy
-Minimum GCSE-level education (or equivalent)
-Expereince of working in GP or Community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy
- GPhC registration (for Pharmacy Technicians)
 
If you have any of the following aswell, that's even better:
- Knowledge of primary care systems and processes
-Understanding of cost-effective prescribing strategies
- Experience using EMIS and Microsoft-based programmes
-Audit and data analysis skills
