Role Overview
The Engineering Manager leads development teams in developing new products and supporting existing technologies. Kasasa primary technology stack consists of JAVA & PHP. This is a role that expects a leader who can be in the trenches with the developers and architects on a technical level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Responsibilities)
1. Infuse the Patch Values into your work ethic, every day and every interaction.
2. Supervise teams of 7 - 10 individuals. In addition to managing successful outcomes, the role involves personnel management tasks such as performance management, coaching and professional mentoring.
3. Focused on successful outcomes. The journey is important, but the outcome is the primary focus.
4. Drives successful delivery of projects by managing resources and cross enterprise interdependencies.
5. Drives technical excellence by working closely with technical leaders.
6. Believes that happy developers work at companies that are successful because development organizations deliver business value constantly.
7. Values the importance of a good culture that fosters continuous professional development.
8. Values and has experience with the tenets of Agile and a strong DevOps culture.
9. Has the chops to have a value-added conversation with Architects and Developers.
10. Comfortable getting into code (primary languages JAVA and PHP), reviewing designs, and doing code reviews if required.
11. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Qualifications)
1. Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred in STEM.
2. Master’s degree is highly desired.
3. Worked in both enterprise and consumer technologies.
4. Has led development teams building software products for at least five years.
5. Has a minimum of at least 15 years of software engineering experience.
6. Experience with the financial services industry is highly desired.
7. Must be legally allowed to work in the U.S.
8. Kasasa values the importance of flexibility and collaboration. We offer a hybrid work model where you'll join us in the office for at least three full workdays each week, allowing for meaningful in-person connections and teamwork. The remaining two days offer the option to work remotely, providing you with the balance and autonomy to excel in your role.
9. You will be asked to participate in culture related meetings, activities, and events. We firmly believe that building culture and teamwork in a company requires extra intentionality, and thus your participation and engagement isn’t just encouraged - it is required and part of your role responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting for extended periods of time; approximately 5-6 hours per day
Simultaneous use of hand, wrist and fingers
Daily operation of standard office equipment
Frequent use of oral communication to perform work
Lifts and moves 7-10 pounds occasionally
