Job Description

Bilfinger UK is a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across the chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals & biopharma, power & energy, utilities, renewables and food & beverage markets. We enhance the efficiency of assets, ensuring a high level of availability and reducing maintenance costs.

We have extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities; specialising in asset management services throughout all life cycle phases from consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.

This commitment is delivered by an experienced and highly competent workforce of over 4,500 employees operating from 14 offices in strategic industrial hubs, upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance and quality.

The Progress Coordinator is responsible for the accurate capture, validation, and reporting of installation progress for NSSS piping and mechanical works on the Hinkley Point C project. Reporting into the Planning function, the role provides a critical link between site execution and project controls, ensuring that progress data reflects verified physical completion and quality status in line with HPC governance requirements.

The role supports the integrity of the Level 4 programme by working closely with Construction, QA/QC, and Project Controls teams to monitor performance against plan, identify deviations on the critical path, and highlight emerging risks to programme delivery. A key part of the role is to ensure that all progress and delay information is robustly recorded, auditable, and aligned with both planning and commercial processes.

Operating within a highly regulated nuclear environment, the Progress Coordinator must demonstrate strong attention to detail, disciplined data management, and the confidence to challenge inconsistencies. The position contributes directly to programme certainty, productivity visibility, and effective decision-making, supporting safe, compliant, and right-first-time delivery of NSSS installation works.

Key Competencies

  1. Demonstrable ability to interpret and work with Level 3, 4 and 5 programmes, translating scope of work into measurable progress on site.

  1. Strong communication and coordination skills to engage with Construction, QA/QC, Planning, and Project Controls to obtain and validate accurate progress data.

  1. Ability to identify, analyse and escalate risks to the critical path, with clear articulation of impacts and proposed mitigation.

  1. Proficient in Primavera P6 and Excel, with the ability to manipulate data sets and produce accurate, timely progress reporting.

  1. Good understanding of piping installation sequences, welding/NDT processes, and system interfaces to ensure logical and realistic progress tracking.

  1. Awareness of the relationship between planning, nuclear safety, quality compliance (ITPs/LTQRs), and cost performance

  1. Confidence and professional judgement to challenge progress data, assumptions, and reporting inconsistencies.

  1. High level of attention to detail, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and audit readiness at all times.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Monitor and report the installation status of NSSS mechanical and piping activities, ensuring progress reflects verified physical completion and quality acceptance (not assumptions).

  1. Maintain alignment between site execution and Level 4 programme through regular engagement with Construction Supervisors, Engineers, and QA/QC teams.

  1. Identify and communicate deviations from the critical path, including quantified impact and risk to key milestones

  1. Capture, validate, and record delays, disruptions, and changes in a structured manner to support planning recovery actions and commercial claims processes

  1. Support integration of emergent works into existing programme baselines, ensuring minimal disruption to critical sequences.

  1. Provide regular, accurate progress reporting in line with HPC Project Controls requirements, including clear narrative on variances.

  1. Maintain robust and auditable records of progress, ensuring data can withstand internal and client (EDF/NNB) scrutiny

  1. Contribute to performance analysis by identifying trends in productivity, installation rates, and constraints.

Key Duties

  1. Support the integrity and accuracy of the Level 4 programme for NSSS piping installation works, ensuring alignment with site progress.

  1. Monitor and validate progress against planned activities using physical verification, system walkdowns, and QA sign-off status

  1. Incorporate programme updates and variations in coordination with the Planning and Project Controls teams.

  1. Produce structured progress reports for the Level 3/4 Planner and Project Controls Team, including:

  1. % complete vs planned

  1. Critical path status

  1. Delay analysis

  1. Look-ahead risks

  1. Work strictly in accordance with HPC Project Controls procedures, ensuring compliance with governance and reporting standards.

  1. Proactively identify emerging issues impacting the critical path and propose practical mitigation or recovery actions.

  1. Generate and maintain records to support performance measurement, including installation outputs, productivity metrics, and trend analysis.

  1. Forecast and report physical progress and installed quantities, including:

  1. Pipework metreage installed

  1. Weld completion and status (incl. NDT)

  1. Fabrication vs installation split

  1. Interface with QA/QC to ensure progress reflects accepted work (ITP hold points passed), not just installed work.

  1. Support readiness for system handover and commissioning by tracking completion status at system/sub-system level.
