About Farr 11

Farr 11 is a dynamic, 30-bed adult acute care General Medicine unit, including 26 telemetry beds. The team provides care to a medically complex patient population with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, failure to thrive, and eating disorders. Patients frequently present with multiple comorbidities as well as complex social and behavioral health needs.

This highly collaborative environment offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced nursing leader to drive clinical excellence, operational performance, staff engagement, and patient outcomes within one of the organization's core inpatient service lines.

Position Summary

The Nurse Director provides strategic, operational, clinical, and financial leadership for Farr 11. This role is accountable for fostering a culture of safety, quality, innovation, and professional practice while ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient-centered care.

The Nurse Director partners closely with nursing leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to advance departmental and organizational priorities. This leader serves as a visible presence on the unit, mentors emerging leaders, drives performance improvement initiatives, and supports workforce development and retention strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for clinical operations, quality outcomes, patient experience, employee engagement, and financial performance.
  • Lead and support nursing managers and frontline leaders to achieve operational, quality, and strategic goals.
  • Develop and sustain a high-performing culture that promotes nursing excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive recruitment, retention, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to improve throughput, patient outcomes, safety metrics, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead change management efforts and implement innovative solutions that enhance care delivery and staff engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement action plans to support organizational priorities and operational excellence.

Leadership Scope

  • Direct Reports: 7+
  • Indirect Reports: 21–50

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a strategic and collaborative nursing leader with experience leading complex inpatient operations, developing high-performing teams, and driving quality and operational outcomes. This individual will be energized by the opportunity to influence care delivery, mentor future leaders, and advance nursing excellence within a fast-paced academic medical center environment.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Finance or Hospital Administration preferred.

License Registered Nurse required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.

3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required

Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

1-3 years supervisory/management experience

Patient Population

Must be competent to provide care and leadership support for patients across the lifespan, including neonatal, young adult, adult, and geriatric populations.

Physical Requirements

Light physical activity, including walking throughout the hospital, standing for extended periods, and occasionally moving or lifting objects up to 20 pounds.

 

 

Pay Range:

$180,000.00 USD - $230,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
