Position Overview
The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing all bakery operations, ensuring high-quality baked goods, attractive merchandising, and exceptional customer service. This role assists in driving sales, maintaining food safety standards, and leading the bakery team in a fast-paced production and retail environment.
- Assist in managing daily bakery production, including baking, packaging, and product replenishment
- Ensure consistent availability of fresh, high-quality baked goods
- Support ordering, receiving, and inventory control processes
- Monitor shrink and implement actions to minimize waste
- Maintain clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing bakery displays
- Execute ad plans, seasonal features, and promotional items
- Ensure accurate pricing, labeling, and product signage
- Support custom cake orders and special customer requests
- Ensure all bakery products meet company quality and freshness standards
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling guidelines
- Maintain proper storage, labeling, and temperature control
- Ensure department is audit-ready at all times
- Provide friendly, engaging, and helpful service to customers
- Assist customers with product selection, custom orders, and recommendations
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Promote bakery items, seasonal features, and specialty products
- Assist in supervising, training, and coaching bakery associates
- Delegate daily tasks and ensure completion of workload
- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance development
- Step into leadership role in absence of the Bakery Manager
- Previous bakery, food service, or retail experience preferred
- Knowledge of baking processes and food handling practices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-focused environment
- Leadership and communication skills
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to warm kitchen and production environments
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Product quality, freshness, and presentation
- Sales performance and shrink control
- Food safety and audit compliance
- Customer satisfaction and custom order execution
