Education/Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent 2 years previous healthcare experience (pediatric experience a plus) Knowledge of medical terminology
As a key member of the Transfer Center Team you will:
- Coordinate Interfacility Transfers by gathering initial transfer request details from referring facilities and following established protocols with the Transfer Center RN to coordinate transfers.
- Provide Secretarial Support by entering and managing data in systems (e.g., Central Logic, Midas), running reports, and maintaining logs. Monitoring department equipment function and sending required documentation to referral hospitals.
- Support Safety and Quality by updating and communicating weather and traffic alerts. Tracking transport vehicles to ensure safety throughout transfers. Maintaining emergency preparedness documentation and follows safety/quality plans and assigned duties.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to speak clearly and communicate in professional manner both verbally and in writing regarding the subject of the call or inquiry.
- Ability to build rapport and develop trust with caller/patient.
- Duties are performed with upbeat –can do positive voice tone and attitude for effective, quality, safe and compassionate care for caller/patient.
- Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting and stay focused on callers’ need with use of voice, eye, wrist, hands and fingers for operation of computer and telephonic processes.
- Reach and stretch above and below shoulder level. Some pushing/pulling. Kneeling and bending may be required.
- Must possess aptitude for learning and use of critical thinking with problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing work and adapting to diverse routines and situations that require change.
- Possess strong abilities to maintain a sense of urgency as well as to respond quickly to emergency situations in a calm well organized manner following procedures and policies to provide timely facilitation of care plan/transfer/referral with focus on best outcome for the caller/ patient.
- Frequent need for hearing acuity, eye/hand/finger dexterity and articulate communication with a clear positive telephone voice and delivery of speech. Distinguish color for use of multiple indicators in computerized placement programs.
- Exposure to General Office Environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours to provide staffing for the department, which is open twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week program occasional lifting of 10 pounds
