Ready to get stuck in and be part of something big? Downer is building a strong, skilled crew in Nelson – and we want you on it. From major infrastructure to essential maintenance, no two days are the same. If you enjoy hands-on work, being part of a tight-knit team, and seeing the results of what you build – this is your chance.
We’re offering full-time, permanent roles (40 hours guaranteed) with competitive pay, overtime, allowances, and penal rates under the South Island AWUNZ agreement.
We’re hiring across multiple roles:
- Construction Labourers – Get hands-on across a range of civil works. Great entry point into the industry. Class 1 licence preferred.
- Operator/Drivers – Run machinery and trucks while supporting the crew on the ground. Class 4/5 (drivers) + WTR (operators) required.
- Drainlayers – Work across water, wastewater & stormwater projects. Class 1–2 licence and 3 waters experience essential.
- Civil Carpenters – Build retaining walls, boardwalks, formwork and more. Class 1 licence required.
- Civil Foreperson – Lead crews, manage day-to-day site operations, and drive performance. Class 2 + WTR preferred.
