
Manager - Patient Access Emergency Department
Job Description
The Patient Access Services Manager is to provide superior quality, competitive value, outstanding customer service, and ensure most efficient processes are followed to meet regulatory requirements and to meet industry standards for all registration entry points. The manager will also work with the team in meeting and exceeding goals established by Baptist Health Care. The manager is responsible for maintaining all personnel aspects of the Emergency Department, outpatient access departments of Gulf Breeze Hospital, and Baptist Medical Park Nine Mile, Baptist Medical Park Navarre, and Baptist Medical Park Airport. As the manager, additional responsibilities will include but not limited to the hiring and coaching of registration representatives, proper training of staff and team member time off. The manager will supervise, and mentor area team leads and/or supervisors to achieve the area specific operational goals through communication, monitoring, and process improvement. This person will communicate openly with other leaders of the division, their team, and their counter parts in the clinical setting ensuring the best patient care. The manager will through proper staffing and training direct the team in meeting patient satisfaction goals as well as financial goals set forth. The managers will be experts in technology in place relative to the processes of their departments.
- Evaluates work performance of employees and makes recommendations for hiring, promotions, demotions, transfers, and other personnel actions including disciplinary actions and suspension.
- Responsible for time cards and scheduling of work hours.
- Responsible for reconciling daily, weekly and monthly patient access reports (i.e. daily census report, accuracy report, time and attendance, trending reports) and submits reports to Executive Director Patient Access
- Responsible for supervising the multiple facets of patient access services.
- Ensure that all areas of oversight consistently meet or exceed organizational standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all departmental processes are consistently followed, monitored, and improved as needed.
- Manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
- Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
- Is responsible for the department’s operational excellence and ensures that the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Is responsible for the fiscal management of the department and ensures the proper utilization of the organization’s financial resources.
- Responsible for recruitment of team members and onboarding to the department until self sufficient. Including providing observations.
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- Bachelor's Degree Other related field, Health Care Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
- 4-6 years healthcare revenue cycle experience Required and
- 2 years supervisory or leadership experience Preferred
