Job Description
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Mechanical Drafter to join our Automation Engineering Group. The drafter will be mainly responsible for creating part and assembly drawings, and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies related to our machines to assist battery development.
Responsibilities:
- Create technical drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and engineering changes (ECOs) utilizing SolidWorks CAD software
- Revise existing drawings to incorporate engineering changes, fix operating deficiencies, or improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Work closely with mechanical and process engineers to understand part and assembly requirements.
- Ensure deliverables, maintain safe machine design standards, and meet regulatory compliance requirements
- Work with procurement department to create purchase requisition for released drawings.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
- Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
- Comfortable operating basic test and measurement equipment
- Basic knowledge of common automation components (motors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, gas and water components, frame types, sheet metal and other enclosure materials, etc.) is desired
- Experience with mechanical design and analysis skills including statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials as well as stress and thermal analysis is desired
Qualifications:
- Technical diploma in mechanical engineering or in a related field
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in the design engineering field
- Mechanical design and documentation skills using SolidWorks 3D design tools
- Basic understanding of engineering principles
- Problem-solving experience for mechanical designs
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and products
- Good technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
