SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Superintendent, Maintenance.

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance & Support Operations, the Superintendent, Maintenance, will be accountable for the availability and maintenance of the underground and surface fleets. You will be responsible for ensuring the use of safe and effective maintenance standards and practices are used by all.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish daily and weekly priorities for the mobile maintenance department in alignment with the schedules of other departments while ensuring that employees adhere to these set schedules.

  • Ensure required supplies, tools and appropriate safety equipment are on hand and readily available.

  • Review and develop all applicable procedures for the maintenance team.

  • Assess the training requirements for the team and implement training as required.

  • Develop and maintain Key Performance metrics for the maintenance team.

  • Monitor work performance of employees and provide timely feedback as necessary.

  • Responsible for the hiring and performance evaluations of direct reports.

  • Develop and maintain a 5-year equipment rebuild vs replacement, equipment strategy that supports our life of mine plan.

  • Develop and maintain mobile maintenance budget year to year, including major component replacements.

  • Maintains computerized information systems and participates in their development.

  • Shut down and correct any unsafe work conditions.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the department.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • High degree of knowledge of underground and surface mining mobile equipment and processing equipment maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of principles of maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination.

  • Strong computer literacy including intermediate level Microsoft Office

  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among all employees.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in a results-oriented environment.

  • Ability to prioritize of both long- and short-term maintenance planning. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving.

Your Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Technical diploma or Interprovincial trade certification – preference to mechanical.

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in a leadership role, preferably mining industry.

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has a schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
