Job Overview
The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of all hotel public areas while supporting the housekeeping team in delivering efficient operations and a high-quality guest experience. This role assists with the delivery of supplies, removal of linens and trash, and general support tasks to ensure smooth housekeeping operations throughout the property.
This position operates in a physically active hotel environment requiring frequent movement throughout public spaces, guest floors, and back-of-house areas. Work is performed indoors across multiple areas of the hotel and involves exposure to high-traffic spaces and varying operational demands. Flexibility is required, including weekends and holidays based on business needs. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and service standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Job Responsibilities
Public Area Cleaning
Clean and maintain lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and meeting spaces.
Dust, vacuum, mop floors, and polish surfaces.
Empty trash bins and replace liners as needed.
Ensure all public areas are clean, presentable, and well-maintained.
Housekeeping Support
Deliver linens, towels, and supplies to room attendants.
Remove dirty linens and trash from guest rooms and service areas.
Assist with moving beds, furniture, and equipment when needed.
Support housekeeping operations to ensure efficiency and readiness.
Room Assistance
Assist in preparing rooms for guest arrival, including restocking supplies.
Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from supervisors or staff.
Perform deep cleaning tasks as assigned.
Support overall room readiness and cleanliness standards.
Guest Interaction
Respond politely and professionally to guest requests (e.g., towels, directions).
Maintain a helpful and service-oriented attitude at all times.
Support positive guest experiences through attentive service.
Maintenance Reporting
Report maintenance issues such as leaks, damage, or safety hazards.
Ensure cleaning equipment and tools are in proper working condition.
Communicate issues promptly to appropriate departments.
Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not always required).
Experience: Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
Travel required: No travel required; position is fully property-based.
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking and standing throughout entire shift.
Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 25–50 lbs.
Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
Regular movement throughout indoor hotel spaces.
