Job Description

  Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm   Location: Charlotte, NC (McAlpine Park Drive)   POSITION SUMMARY: The Pre-Services Specialist position provides excellent internal and external customer service by scheduling and registering patients for imaging studies, providing accurate, detailed benefit and eligibility information to patients while collecting on current and previous charges occurred by the patient and ensuring open, clear communication with the outpatient staff regarding scheduling and order requests. This position is responsible for providing a positive initial introduction of Charlotte Radiology to its patients and referring physicians as it relates to financial obligations and imaging exams.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs patient scheduling, and contacts insurance companies to obtain authorizations as well as benefit and eligibility information for all radiology procedures (as needed) Register all scheduled Carolinas Imaging Services or Breast MRI patients Inform patients and referring offices of arrival times and special prep instructions for all imaging exams Communicates with outpatient office staff by providing updates on scheduling and order request issues as well as any financial obligations of patients to ensure that proper payment amounts are collected at the time of service Maintain all imaging scheduling records and be able to verify HIPPA information for all patients Update and maintain financial spreadsheets for all CIS or Brest MRI locations Responsible for informing patients of their estimated financial responsibility prior to time of arrival as well as monitor and check all patients for bad debt Re-educates staff during monthly departmental meetings Reports issues or concerns regarding staff training in a timely manner to the Manager Shadow new hires and offer guidance upon completion of training for approximately 1-2 hours per individual. Track and report on training outcomes   Qualifications:   At least 1 year of experience with customer service, patient registrations/scheduling or medical office setting  Call center experience; Insurance knowledge, medical billing and coding experience a plus High school Education  Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices Medical terminology and medical office experience Ability to read, understand and comprehend the CPT and ICD.9, ICD.10 manuals Strong verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices Strong internal and external customer service skills Ability to multitask and work independently without direct supervision Ability to demonstrate strength in problem solving Ability to handle confidential information    Primarily sitting Lift 25lbs
