Main accountabilities, responsibilities and deliverables

Lead and manage the global unit “Infrastructure backbone & Application Platforms”, ensuring the design and operation of secure, economical, and scalable platforms in a hybrid IT environment.
Accountable for business continuity, availability, performance, and lifecycle management of infrastructure and application platforms supporting all strategic business applications.

Backbone & Onsite Infrastructure Ownership

• Oversee the management, operation, administration, and support of onsite and backbone IT infrastructure, including:
  • Servers, storage, and local networks
  • Telephony and collaboration systems
  • Backbone hardware and workplace IT
• Ensure adherence to global service management processes, security policies, and compliance requirements
  Infrastructure Architecture & Standards

Infrastructure Architecture & Standards

• Act as global infrastructure architect, defining and maintaining baseline architectures, including: 
• • Network and backbone landscapes
  • Workplace and client standards (e.g., Basic Client)
  • Server, storage, and cloud platform architectures
  • Define global infrastructure standards, guidelines, and reference architectures, and ensure adoption across all regions

Application & Platform Enablement

• Design, evaluate, deliver, and support engineering and production platforms, including:
  • Platform-specific automation (job scheduling and special automation)
  • Middleware
  • Industry 4.0 solutions, MES, OEE
  • Cloud platforms and managed application services
• Continuously enhance platform capabilities to enable new technologies, services, and digital manufacturing use cases

Identity, Access & Security

• Ensure that the right identities access the right assets at the right time for the right reasons, in close coordination with external partners for IAM and Identity Management
• Drive infrastructure and application platform security improvements, including monitoring, advisory, and risk mitigation measures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or Business Administration (required)
• Strong foundation in IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, and workplace technologies (Juniper, Fortigate, Zscaler, Cisco,  VMware, Azure)
• Solid financial background, including budgeting, forecasting, and vendor management
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience (preferred)
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• Executive IT Management professional with strong strategic and operational leadership
• Long-term experience leading global infrastructure and platform organizations
• Strong business, stakeholders, and political empathy
• Proven leadership in complex, multi-vendor IT environments
• Ability to balance architecture governance with operational excellence
