SUMMARY
The Janitor is responsible for performing a variety of work to maintain the cleanliness and standards for health, safety and operational conditions in assigned areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with Westlake Safety Policies.
- Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility.
- Provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture.
- Perform janitorial duties of restrooms, break rooms, and office areas
- Perform janitorial duties of operation areas such as production floor and shops
- Maintain waste receptacles and properly dispose of trash
- Keep grounds free of litter grounds cleaning duties
- Perform upkeep maintenance such as painting and floor work
- Assist with minor projects that could include light construction work
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent is a plus
- Must demonstrate some mechanical aptitude in basic construction
- Self-starter that can maintain a good balance between quantity and quality of work completed
- Operate janitorial equipment and basic hand tools
- Janitorial experience is helpful
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (must be able to see and distinguish colors), peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Be exposed to temperature extremes inside or out.
- Work in constant noise above 85 decibels.
