Job Description
Position Summary
What You'll do as a Senior Scientist
- Assure efficient laboratory operation through acquisition and inventory control of consumables lab supplies and chemicals.
- Obtain resources needed to complete project deliverables.
- Maintain knowledge of FDA and EPA requirements for current projects.
- Develop and validate methods for laboratory instruments.
- May serve as technical expert in support of plant operations.
- Perform mathematical analysis and interpretation of data.
- Formulate hypothesis and design experiments to test hypothesis.
- Demonstrate good oral communication skills:
- Give presentations within and outside R&D
- Proficient in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Perform troubleshooting, advanced maintenance and calibration on analytical instrumentation.
- Maintain the Research Notebook recording detailed information on activities undertaken, existing conditions and observed results.
- Perform all work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
- Travel up to 10% (including international)
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry
- Requires 8 years of related laboratory experience.
- Possess basic laboratory skills related to job field.
- Skilled in the use of basic chemistry laboratory equipment.
- Familiar with the operation/theory of GC, LC, FTIR, and quantitative wet chemsitry techniques.
- Ability to read and follow protocols/Work Instructions/ methods.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
- Capable of solving complex chemistry problems through accurate interpretation of data and in-depth investigations.
- Practical knowledge/experience working under regulatory agency guidelines is desired.
- Possesses a moderate degree of technical experience in analytical chemistry.
Preferred:
- Masters degree in chemistry preferred.
- Experience in an environmental laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with the purpose and function of softening, DI, and RO water purification systems.
- General knowledge of water chemistry.
- General knowledge of boilers for the use in steam generation for steam sterilization.
- Familiarity with Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation® (AAMI) water standards.
Other:
- Strong observation, communication (technical written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional team player with some leadership responsibilities.

Pay range for this opportunity is $81,750.00 - $93,000.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
