
Apprentice – Industrial Painter
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and eager Apprentice Industrial Painter to join our team in Kings Park, NSW. This apprenticeship role offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in industrial painting while completing a Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application.
Working under the guidance of experienced painters, you’ll learn and assist with all aspects of surface preparation, coating application, and finishing across a range of industrial equipment and structures. This role requires a strong willingness to learn, a commitment to safety, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting experienced industrial painters with surface preparation, coating application, and finishing tasks.
- Assisting with cleaning, masking, abrasive blasting, and maintaining workshop and job site areas.
- Learning safe work practices, correct use of PPE, and proper handling of paints and materials.
- Helping with the setup, operation, and maintenance of spray and preparation equipment.
- Developing skills in reading job specifications, blueprints, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Participating in equipment cleaning, waste disposal, and environmental compliance activities.
- Building hands-on experience and technical knowledge through formal training and completion of a Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application.
- Contributing as a reliable and proactive member of a supportive, safety-focused team.
What We’re Looking For
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Completion of School Certificate or Higher School Certificate.
- Sound achievement in Maths and English.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine eagerness to learn a trade career.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- High attention to detail with a proactive and safety-conscious work ethic.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing work conditions.
- Comfortable working in workshop environments, at heights, or in confined spaces.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport (preferred but not essential).
- Prior exposure to industrial or mining environments (advantageous but not essential).
