Job Description

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnership & Technical Analysis (40%)

  • Act as the primary technical business analyst supporting APAC Sales teams
  • Investigate and resolve Client Value-related issues that impact sales effectiveness and recognition.
  • Partner with sales leadership to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Provide timely analysis and recommendations on client value technical issues
  • Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation
  • Ensure APAC sales teams have the technical support needed to drive business outcomes

Team Leadership & Community Building (40%)

  • Lead and support 20+ CBDDT team members based in Malaysia, with the majority working NY shift hours
  • Build team cohesion and a strong sense of community among remote and hybrid workers
  • Use influence and engagement strategies to bring the team together physically and culturally
  • Drive initiative to increase in-office presence to at least 2 days per week for NY shift team members
  • Champion team well-being, work-life balance, and mental health in a challenging shift schedule
  • Foster innovation initiatives and knowledge-sharing across Malaysia teams
  • Provide mentorship, career guidance, and professional development opportunities
  • Create a collaborative culture where team members feel valued, connected, and supported despite distributed work arrangements

Application Support & Technical Leadership (20%)

  • Provide escalation support for critical production issues affecting APAC operations
  • Lead disaster recovery planning and ensure smooth Asia-Pacific start of week operations
  • Collaborate with global teams on incident resolution and problem management
  • Support onboarding of new applications and ensure smooth transitions for APAC users
  • Maintain high standards of system stability and reliability

Work Schedule

This role requires flexibility to serve both APAC business needs and global team collaboration:

  • 4 days per week: APAC business hours (approximately 9am–6pm Malaysia time) to support sales teams and APAC operations
  • 1 day per week: Afternoon/evening shift (3pm–12am Malaysia time) to overlap with NY-based teams and global leadership

This hybrid schedule ensures you can be present for critical APAC business needs while staying connected to the broader global organization and supporting your Malaysia-based team members who work NY hours.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must-Have

  • 10+ years in Capital Markets Technology or Technical Support roles
  • Proven people leadership experience managing distributed or remote teams, ideally 15+ team members
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnership skills, particularly with Sales or client-facing business teams
  • Experience as a technical business analyst investigating client-facing issues and translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Exceptional influence and communication skills—ability to build community, drive engagement, and bring people together without relying solely on positional authority
  • Demonstrated success in building team culture, improving morale, and supporting well-being in challenging work environments
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL frameworks, including Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management
  • Technical proficiency with RHEL Unix/Linux, Windows environments, and scripting languages (Perl, Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as ITRS Geneos, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Grafana
  • Comfortable working across time zones with flexibility for both APAC and NY overlap
  • Experience supporting production environments in financial services or capital markets

Nice to Have

  • Track record of successfully building team culture and engagement in hybrid or fully remote environments
  • Background in Capital Markets sales support or client-facing technical business analysis
  • Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools (Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub)
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, JIRA, and Confluence for incident and project management
  • Experience with batch scheduling platforms such as BMC Control-M or Autosys
  • Knowledge of MS SQL/Sybase and ability to write database queries
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and security governance in financial services

What Makes This Role Unique?

This isn’t a typical technical leadership position. You’ll have dual impact:

Business Impact: You’ll be the trusted technical advisor to APAC Sales teams, directly influencing revenue outcomes by resolving technical barriers and enabling sales success.

People Impact: You’ll shape the work experience and career trajectory of 80+ professionals, many of whom work overnight hours. Your leadership will determine whether they feel isolated or connected, stagnant or growing, burnt out or energized.

Success in this role requires both technical acumen and genuine people leadership—the ability to solve complex technical problems in the morning and then inspire a remote team to come together as a community in the afternoon.

Why Join Us?

  • Lead with dual impact across both business outcomes and people development
  • Shape team culture and community in RBC’s growing APAC technology hub
  • Work with cutting-edge financial technology in a stable, global organization
  • Flexibility and autonomy to design and drive team engagement initiatives
  • Be the voice of APAC in a global organization, influencing both technical and cultural decisions
  • Career growth opportunity in a role that touches both technical and people leadership dimensions
  • Make a real difference in the daily lives and career paths of your team members

Ready to Apply?

If you’re a technical leader who genuinely cares about people, thrives on business partnership, and wants to build something meaningful in APAC, we want to hear from you.

RBC is committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
