Responsibilities
The High Voltage Electrical Maintenance Technician (HVEMT) is responsible for routine and non-routine operations, maintenance, and repairs of high and medium voltage electrical systems and components in a large commercial complex. They will report to the Service Manager (SM) or Lead with a potential for back shift rotation or duty hours and on-call status. The HVE will support standard electrician duties when not otherwise occupied.
- Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
- Installing and mounting electronic controls, device, panels, sensors, and components.
- Performing interlock wiring as required.
- Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices.
- Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
- Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Reading contract drawings.
- Trouble shooting EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays.
- Routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and components to include switchboards, transformers, and similar.
- Knowledge and Use of Electrical Safety Precautions and Arc Flash requirements.
- Proper use of PPE

Qualifications
- Applicants selected must have a high school diploma or GED with minimum 8+ years of experience in the trade.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience with 13.8 KV, 480V switchgear, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system.
- High Voltage Certification and Cable Splicing Certification (5KV – 35 KV electrical system).
